Oh yeah, The BACK yard!
Once again, I have proven my truly astounding level of forgetfulness today. I spend most of my days lunking myself from meeting to meeting for various sorts of things. It seemed as though today, that all I could think about was how I wanted to stop everything and relax for a minute in the go, go, go of my day. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy my work (not so much the meetings) but, sometimes, the day drags on and on seemingly forever. Anyway, you don’t want to hear about that, but my point is I completely forgot that I had a backyard that is there for me to relax in. So… Here I sit, in my backyard, on my Mac, blogging away.
This week has been an onslaught of meetings for some reason. I went into this month knowing it would be crazy as it has been lovingly referred to by my staff as the “Month of Speaking”. I start off with a series of classes about social media and development, then two ASBA/Constant Contact seminars on Blogging with the follow up meetings associated with that, then it’s off to Prescott, AZ for a weekend corporate retreat where Michelle and I are the keynote speakers and we cap the month off with a trip to Houston, TX for a co-worker’s wedding. Thankfully, we’re not speaking that! If we were, that would be a tad weird, I think. Anyway, needless to say, it has been an eventful month so far and it’s still just ramping up. This short little retreat to the backyard is very much needed.
Today, however was an interesting day to say the least. We began the day at Desert Ridge again by meeting a new friend, Steven Groves, who turns out to have inadvertently inspired us to “keep the candle burning at both ends” a little while longer by blogging about our recent endeavor to host a PodCamp here in AZ. An event that we have been unsuccessfully trying to keep under wraps until we felt we knew what we were doing. Nope! we’re thrust into the limelight once again and the announcement is now official. The Creation Shop will be hosting PodCamp AZ in September. Honestly, I am extremely excited about the event and how it has already began to take shape and looks to be a really fun time of networking and education about social media in the virtual dryness of this desert we call Arizona. I really can’t wait to see and meet some of the presenters and get a bead on the who’s who in social media of Arizona. Should be fun… I hope!
I can’t help but ask myself if I will ever design anything again as I don’t have more than 10 minutes at a time in front of my Mac. Try to design something of value in that amount of time! I am thankful though for my talented crew at Synergy, who make me look so much better than I truly am. Synergy, you guys ROCK! Thank you for all you do!
Anyway… yeah, so… PodCamp AZ, blogging, speaking and meeting new people is really what I enjoy and I am having a blast doing it all at once. I just have to remind myself that it’s all good and I can take a break and enjoy myself in seclusion once in awhile and there’s really no better place and time than here and now to soak it all in. Thanks Steven for the pep talk and kick in the backside. I can’t wait to see what this rabbit trail leads to. We’re all in and excited for what’s to come.
